Alaskan Bush People star Bear Brown is thinking about his late father, Billy Brown, on this day, his 34th birthday.
As Bear Brown so often does, he writes a heartfelt post alongside a new selfie. And on Thursday, Brown did just that and posted a photo of him looking sharp in a tux. It has without a doubt been a tough year for the Brown family, but Bear is taking it one day at a time.
“Today is my 34th birthday!” Bear Brown announced on Instagram. “Where does the time go? Seems like just yesterday I was a kid running wild in Alaska, hunting, fishing, surviving, but also living and loving life in a world that seems very different from mine today!”
The death of Alaskan Bush People patriarch, Billy Brown, has been weighing heavily on the family. It has been especially rough on Bear Brown, as the two were very close. This year will mark the first time his dad won’t be around for his birthday.
“Today is the first time in 34 years that my Dad won’t be around for my birthday,” Brown continued. “I miss him so much! I wish I could talk with him again, I wish I could give him a big hug!”
It’s definitely a heartbreaking story. But Brown knows his fans have his back and he is working to be happy.
“This year has been the hardest in my life! I appreciate everyone who has stuck with me and with my family! I’m gonna still try to have as much fun today as I can! I know that’s what he’d want! Everyday is a blessing, I think too many people forget that! Thank you everyone for your support!!! God bless!!!!”

‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Turns to Nature in Difficult Times
It is safe to say that nature is perhaps the safest and most comforting place for members of the Brown family. And if Bear Brown’s posts on social media are any indication, that especially rings true for him. It’s the one place he can turn to in dealing with the death of his father. Billy Brown passed away suddenly back in February after suffering a seizure at his home.
While Bear and his siblings were working through their emotions and grief, the great outdoors was always waiting with open arms. With every passing day Brown spent in nature, we slowly started to see him bring back his smile.
Brown is also going through a tough break up. He has officially called it quits with his on-and-off-again fiancee Raiven Adams. So, to deal with that, plus losing his beloved father, it makes sense that Bear Brown would turn to what he knows best.
