Fans of “Alaskan Bush People” got a glimpse into patriarch Billy Brown’s past during a 2015 episode of the Discovery series. Billy suffered a seizure and passed away on Feb. 7, 2021. He was 68 years old at the time of his death.

In this episode, a friend of Billy’s arrived at his home with photos that led the patriarch on a journey down memory lane.

“Bill goes so far back with me that I don’t really remember a time without him,” Billy Brown says in the throwback clip. “… They’re one of the few people still walking around that knew my mom and dad and my sister. Bill knows things about me when I was young enough that I don’t remember.”

As the old friends and the “Alaskan Bush People” family gather around outside to share in the walk down memory lane.

“I got a few things – surprises for you – that I found. We hunted around town. It wasn’t easy,” Bill tells Billy and his family.

He then shows Billy Brown a picture of Billy as a baby. This photo of him at only 3 months old, drew a big laugh out of the “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch. Another photo of Billy at 3 years old also appeared. Unsurprisingly, Billy’s children were surprised to see these photos of their father.

“I have never seen dad as a baby. This is like years before I was born and this is what dad’s childhood looked like,” daughter Rain shared.

Bill then showed Billy photos of some family members who were very close to him and who is still cares about even though they have passed away. The photos were of Billy’s father, Bill Brown, Sr.; his mother, Kathy; and his sister, Kathryn.

Seeing these photos brought up a lot of emotions for the late “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch.

“You know, Bill came up with some pictures that I’d never seen before. Uh, highly emotional,” Billy says during the episode. “I was brought up in an upper-middle-class family. We were close. We were a very tight family. My mom and dad were my very great friends. The only best friend I had over them was my sister.”

Bill also shared a photo from the memorial service held for Billy’s father, mother, and sister after they died.

“Yeah, I got that pic in my head, but I’ve never seen it as a picture,” Billy said as he looked at the photo.

Billy also said that with the deaths of his parents and sibling his life, “all changed in one day.”

The “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch’s family died in a private plane crash in 1969. A thunderstorm reportedly caused the deadly crash.
