People know Danielle Colby for her role on American Pickers. Danielle works all of the magic behind the scenes. She runs one of the Antique Archeology stores and handles the logistics for Mike and whoever happens to be in the van with him. At the same time, she’s a lover of vintage fashion and decor. Colby is the undisputed Queen of Rust. However, her social media posts prove that she is much deeper than any reality show could ever capture.
Recently, Danielle Colby has been sharing some heavy philosophical thoughts with her Instagram followers. In fact, that’s how she is starting the week. This morning she posted an eye-catching photo with a deep caption that will start everyone’s mind in a good place. Check out the photo below. Then, we’ll break down the caption.
In the photo, Dani looks calm and serene. That may be intentional because her caption is all about spreading positivity and peace.
Danielle Colby On Spreading Peace Through Truth
Danielle Colby starts this portion of the caption by asking a question, “What is truth?” Dani follows that with, “Is it a tangible thing Is it, in fact, factual? Is it sitting deep inside a feeling that we believe to be real, based upon our internalizations which become bright glaring projections?”
That, in and of itself, is enough to get the brain working. However, Danielle Colby went on, suggesting that we step away from our opinions for the day and let truth guide us. “Remember today that negative opinions are nothing more than projections of our own insecurities, illnesses, inadequacies, thrust upon whomever we choose,” she reminds her followers.
Danielle Colby goes on to say that opinions can be beautiful and uplifting. However, when we share negative opinions, they can have serious consequences. The Queen of Rust hits on the fact that most don’t think much about the subjects of our opinions. As a result, they can be hurtful and, at times, even life-threatening. You never know what someone is really going through. Likewise, it’s impossible to know what will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for them. At the same time, Dani notes that our opinions of ourselves can be hurtful. If you don’t have a high opinion of yourself, things can go downhill pretty quickly. So, it is better to err on the side of caution on both internal and external opinions.
Colby goes on to say that we build narratives that help us makes sense of things and quell our anxieties. However, when we do, we often don’t think about the other people at the center of those narratives. She has a solution for that, though. Danielle Colby ended her post with, “So let’s give our egos a rest today, they need one, let’s choose stories that make peace today. Let’s walk and talk with virtue for today. Let’s not worry about elevating ourselves over somebody else. K?”
