American Pickers star Frank Fritz has traveled all across the United States in search of various antiques, trinkets, and treasures. He once talked about where his favorite area is to look for those items.
On the popular History Channel reality series, longtime buddies Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe make their way around the country looking for old items that could be flipped for a profit. Fritz and Wolfe travel around going to garage sales, estate sales, people’s homes, and anywhere they might find old stuff lying around that can be turned into a profit.
But where do Fritz and the rest of the American Pickers crew enjoy going the most? After all, Fritz has been on the road treasure hunting for more than 25 years. For the other cast and crew members, their opinions may vary. But for Frank Fritz himself, he says that he likes going “picking” on the East coast. He explained as much when he responded to questions sent into the Register Star back in 2011.
“Pennsylvania has cool stuff, pretty towns to drive through,” Fritz explained. “The East is where America started, where most of the older items are.”
As for what his favorite item is to collect, Fritz says that it is anything to do with motorcycles. That would help explain why he and Mike Wolfe got along as co-hosts of the show. Wolfe, too, has long been open about his deep passion for things with two wheels.
Both ‘American Pickers’ Stars Share a Common Love of Motorcycles
It totally makes sense now why Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe remained such good friends while starring on American Pickers. Both of the star actors share a common love for motorcycles.
For Mike Wolfe, his connection to bicycles and motorcycles started all the way back when he was just four years old. Wolfe grew up with a single mother and his family didn’t always have a lot of money. But he found a couple of bikes in the trash and his life was changed forever.
“Bicycles have always been a huge part of my life,” Wolfe said during a 2018 interview at Reconnecting Roots. “I was walking to school one day and I saw some bicycles in the garbage. I couldn’t believe that someone had thrown them out. So, I grabbed up all of the bicycles that I could that day and I didn’t go to school.”
Of course, Mike Wolfe is now 57 years old. So, it’s safe to say that he has come a long way from that boy who pulled his first bike out of the trash. Nowadays, he has honed in on that passion even more — to the point that he owns several old-school bikes and motorcycles.
