What does “American Pickers” host Mike Wolfe believe is his “responsibility” to The History Channel show? Well, he answered that question.
“I’m a storyteller, so is it my responsibility to tell that story?” Wolfe asked himself as part of a 2019 interview with the Des Moines Register. “I think it is, like, it is big time. (And) the show is at the point now where it’s, like, I want to talk about these things that matter.”
He really means what he says here. Wolfe takes his role as a “picker” of antiques and collectibles very seriously. Obviously, his love for what he does comes across in the shows. Wolfe will be having a new host this season in Danielle Colby, who has been on “American Pickers” before.
See, Colby has worked in Wolfe’s office in his store at Le Claire, Iowa. She also has developed her own taste for antiques, too. “American Pickers” will have her as a host after The History Channel, which owns the show, fired longtime host Frank Fritz.
‘American Pickers’ Will Look A Bit Different Without Fritz
He had been off the show for a period of time due to health issues. Those included back surgery and going to rehab for substance abuse issues around alcoholism.
Fritz and Wolfe had been hosts on the show since it first debuted on Jan. 18, 2010, on The History Channel. Their work has brought millions of fans to TV sets where they watched Mike and Frank go check out all types of antiques and collectibles. Not only what they look at but the people they chat with along the path have their own stories, too.
“American Pickers” remains one of The History Channel’s most popular shows. Don’t expect Fritz’s departure to turn into a sign that the show will end. That’s not going to happen, especially since Wolfe created it and is one of the show’s executive producers.
Before he goes out looking for items, though, Wolfe likes to pump himself up in an interesting yet understandable way.
Popular Rock Band Plays Role In Getting Wolfe Ready For Picking
Rock music is one way Mike Wolfe gets ready to go out and start “picking” all over again. There does happen to be one specific, popular rock band that he will bend his ear toward.
Well, which one gets the “American Pickers” host’s attention?
During an interview with Nicole Sawyer of C Suite Insights, Wolfe called out a British rock band that’s scored a lot of hits.
“I love The Who, man,” Wolfe said. “Anything from ‘Quadrophenia’.”
Wolfe digs The Who. So, we say find what works for you musically and let that help you “pick” to your heart’s desire.
