Turning 99 has to come with a few perks. For Betty White, her perk is officially getting to go to bed whenever she wants.

White, who turned 99 on Sunday, hilariously commented about staying up late during an interview with The Associated Press.

“Since I am turning 99, I can stay up as late as I want without asking permission,” she said.

To celebrate her big day, the beloved comedian and actor plans to spend time doing what she loves the most: being with animals. White plans on feeding a pair of ducks that regularly visit her home. According to the AP, she’ll also enjoy a hot dog and French fries with her longtime friend and agent, Jeff Witjas.

Leading up to her birthday, she sat down for an interview with PEOPLE magazine to share tips on how she stays positive to find the bright side of life.

“I don’t like the other side,” said White. “The positive side is a lot more fun.”

Betty White To Have ‘Low-Key’ Birthday Celebration Amid Pandemic

White also told the magazine that even though this birthday is an incredible milestone, she’ll be having a low-key celebration this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. She is looking forward to “visiting with close friends and bringing food to my animal friends” once everyday life resumes.

And as the cherished icon nears the century mark, she shares the one thing that she attributes to keeping her going: “a sense of humor.”

“Don’t take yourself too seriously,” she said. “You can lie to others — not that I would — but you cannot lie to yourself.”

White’s career spanned over eight decades and is still going strong. She’s had roles in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls.” She’s appeared on countless talk shows, television series, and movies. White has become an example of how to live life to the fullest, as long as you can.

“I am blessed with good health,” she said, “so turning 99 is no different than turning 98.”
