“Big Sky” star Kylie Bunbury has some big news to share.

The actor posted a series of photos on Instagram on June 22 announcing an upcoming addition to her family. Bunbury and her husband, Jon-Ryan Alan Riggins, are expecting a baby sometime in the near future.

The two posed in matching white attire together for some absolutely stunning shots on the beach in Maui, Hawaii.

She captioned the photos, “Life is a series of awakenings, this is our greatest one yet.”

People flocked to the comments to congratulate Kylie Bunbury on the exciting news. A few happened to be her co-stars from “Big Sky.” Ryan Dorsey, who plays Rand Kleinsasser on the show, wrote “Ahhhh congrats Kylie!” Britt Robertson, or Cheyenne Kleinsasser, also said “Yes!!!!! Congrats!”

Jesse James Keitel, who plays Jerrie Kennedy on the show, seemed especially excited.

They wrote, “MAMAAAA … I love you so much. So excited for you both!”

Bunbury and her husband got engaged on April 8, 2018. The two then tied the knot on January 1, 2020. Originally, Bunbury had a career in modeling before getting into the acting world. She had roles in “Under the Dome,” “Prom,” “The Sitter,” “Pitch,” and “When They See Us.” So far her role as Cassie Dewell on “Big Sky” is her biggest so far.

‘Big Sky’ Actor Emmy Campaign

While Kylie Bunbury announced her exciting pregnancy, another “Big Sky” star was vying for her first Emmy Award.

Brooke Smith, who plays Merilee Legarski on “Big Sky,” has had a long career in the entertainment world. Her most notable role was in the 1991 classic film “Silence of the Lambs” where she played Catherine Martin. Since then, Smith has appeared in “Bates Motel,” “Ray Donovan,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and on several other projects.

She has not won an Emmy but thinks she’s due for one. According to IndieWire, Smith learned that Katheryn Winnick and Kylie Bunbury were being submitted during the show’s For Your Consideration campaign to possibly be up for an Emmy.

In a bold move, she decided to take part in a do-it-yourself Emmy campaign, which is pretty rare and often happens when stars disagree with studios. She had her trepidations about self-advocating but did it anyway. “Why is it that it’s so hard to self-advocate? I had a feeling of, ‘Well, how lucky am I that I even got to play this part. Isn’t that enough?”

Smith’s character is considered recurring. It’s also unclear if she will be coming back for the second season of the series.

Smith was told she could not take part in an Emmys FYC panel. The show had 11 actors appear at the panel, including Brooke Smith’s husband on the show, John Carroll Lynch. The show’s creator, David E. Kelley, believes she does amazing work. He also said that he leaves nominations and awards up to the network and just focuses on making a great show.

“She did incredible work for us … Good acting is good acting and character actors are hard to find. You’re looking for people to play adult roles, complicated roles where the human pathology is nuanced. It’s the reason Brooke keeps getting hired: She’s an extremely smart actress,” Kelley said to IndieWire.
