Beloved Discovery and ‘Alaskan Bush People’ star Billy Brown died suddenly Sunday night, his family confirms. He was 68-years-old.
Outdoors folk and Discovery fans the world over are mourning alongside the family of Billy Brown. The patriarch of ‘Alaskan Bush People’ died suddenly Sunday night following a seizure. His son, Bear Brown, confirms the tragic loss Monday with a family statement on Instagram.
“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure,” Bear writes.
“He was our best friend – a wonderful and loving dad, granddad and husband and he will be dearly missed,” Billy Brown’s son continues. “He lived his life on his terms, off the grid and off the land and taught us to live like that as well. We plan to honor his legacy going forward, and to continue with his dream.”
Bear then asks fans and friends alike to respect his family’s privacy during this “painful time,” alongside requesting prayers.

The Brown family let both Discovery and their show, ‘Alaskan Bush People,’ know of the tragic loss.
“We are devastated to hear of Billy Brown’s sudden passing,” the program’s tweet mourns.
“He has been part of the Discovery family for years – a trailblazer, a lovely man, and most definitely one of a kind. Our heart is with his family and those that knew him as they deal with this devastating loss.”
