Country music star Blake Shelton and music artist Gwen Stefani are preparing to head down the aisle as the two plan their wedding.
Shelton proposed to Stefani only a few weeks ago and the couple has since begun planning the big day, according to PEOPLE. The 44-year-old country star popped the question to Stefani at his Tishomingo, Oklahoma, ranch last month.
“Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020…and the rest of my life,” Shelton tweets of the engagement. “I love you. I heard yes!”
Shelton and Stefani Set To Tie the Knot
A source close to the couple tells PEOPLE not to expect a big affair as the couple ties the knot.
The source says that neither Shelton or Stefani want a “big wedding” and the ceremony will likely center around a small group of family and friends. The source went on to say that family is very important to the couple, and Shelton made sure to get approval of Stefani’s three sons. Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6, are her sons from her previous marriage to Bush front man Gavin Rossdale.
“Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission,” the source says. “Her family very much approves of him. He’s an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise.”
The two “Voice” coaches met on the show’s set in 2015. They started off as friends but would later become a romantic couple to the delight of music fans of all genres. The two music icons have collaborated on several songs during their relationship. They have written and performed songs dedicated to each other on numerous occasions. Shelton’s songs “Turnin’ Me On” is about Stefani, and Stefani’s 2016 hit, “Make Me Love You” is about Shelton.
“Blake gives Gwen so many things that were missing from her life for years,” the source says. “She loves sharing her life with him.”
