Blue Bloods fans just can’t get enough of the Reagan family.

In a new Reddit post, one Blue Bloods fan even went so far as to call for a feature film based on the hit CBS show. The fan suggested that audiences would line up for a Blue Bloods movie and the film would “do huge numbers.”

Other fans quickly threw cold water on those plans. But it’s safe to say that at the very least, they are expecting Blue Bloods to continue for the foreseeable future.

Blue Bloods Fan Is Waiting on the Feature Film

On Reddit, one excitable Blue Bloods fan was off and running with the idea for a movie based on the TV show. The fan quickly moved from idea to plan to impatience for the movie – of which no such news has been announced – to come out.

“i have been waiting for lets just agree and say pretty well much f***ing 75 years for this damn movie to get made. Seems like it would do huge numbers… Think of all the fans who would be lind up at the doors…to the cinema…,” the fan posted. “Man ths is makinh me so damn excited [sic]. Cannot wait to see all of are friends on the big screen. Or what Tom would say – ‘A big damn spot to see a murder.’”

However, other Blue Bloods fans quickly chimed in to bring the original poster down to earth. They said they weren’t aware of any plans for a Blue Bloods movie. And they added that the fanbase probably should not hold its breath.

“I wasn’t aware this was something we were waiting for,” one fan replied, baffled.

“Closest you’ll get to a BB movie will be the 2 hour finale from last season,” another fan argued. “None of the folks in this cast are a box office draw. And even though Reddit’s general demographics are movie goers, the viewers of BB overall are not.”

“TV stuff does not work the same way as theater stuff,” another fan pointed out. “Something can be gold on TV and crap on the big screen. We are talking about 2 totally different worlds. Lets keep bb in our living rooms, where it gives us comfort.”

Series Could Go On Indefinitely, Tom Selleck Says

Meanwhile, as for the cast of Blue Bloods, they’re just grateful to be part of such a long-running show. And like the fans, they don’t necessarily see a finale anytime in the near future.

“I don’t think there is an end point,” star Tom Selleck, who plays NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan, told People last year. “I think there is a lot of life in the show, as long as you let your characters grow and get older.”

Selleck went on to explain that Blue Bloods has evolved beyond a character-driven show to a show in which “the audience is really inside the main characters’ heads.”

It looks like some audience members are taking things a step further and trying to get into movie studio executives’ heads. While that may be a long shot, Blue Bloods does not appear to be going anywhere anytime soon, so fans can continue to enjoy the Reagan family’s adventures on the small screen Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
