Since 2010, fans have been tuning in to watch CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” an American police sitcom. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it follows the Reagan family, a well-known police family. Now, in the wake of its season finale, fans will have to wait for the highly-anticipated season 12 of the popular series.
Since we’re in for a long waiting period until the network drops the newest season, we’re looking at what might be in store for Danny Reagan.
During the last season, a good majority of fans loved the arc between Danny and Luis Delgado, and while we do want to see Lou Diamond Phillips again, we’re not sure how that would play out.
Bringing in a new enemy from the outside could resonate well with the audience, especially if someone can appear in three or four episodes and challenge Danny.
‘Blue Bloods’ Fans Could See More Of Danny As A Dad
While fans tend not to see a lot of Jack on the show, the writers could make it so that Danny goes to visit him. This move could also create a big arc for Sean, wherein we see more of his future.
This would be an exciting idea to explore as too many of Frank’s grandkids get pushed into the background, and we rarely see their plots play out. However, it seems like “Blue Bloods” showrunner Kevin Wade isn’t looking to explore that anytime soon.
It would also be interesting to see new partnerships come into the mix. In season 12, fans might see Danny and Eddie work together primarily. Or, there’s also the potential to see more of the dysfunctional Danny-Anthony duo.
On April 15, 2021, CBS announced that the network had picked up the series for a 12th season. Fans can expect the upcoming season to air between the end of 2021 and the first half of 2022.
While it’s tough to say what will happen to the show in the future, the Reagan family patriarch, Tom Selleck, has been vocal in interviews about his devotion to his on-screen family.
“I don’t think there is an endpoint,” he told PEOPLE in a 2020 interview. “I think there is a lot of life in the show, as long as you let your characters grow and get older.” Moreso, Selleck has been open about the fact that he loves that the fans have a solid connection to the show and its characters.
“There is an evolution. It started out as a character-driven show, and it’s even more than that now,” said Selleck. “When you get to a point like this, and we certainly had it on [Magnum P.I.], the audience is really inside the main characters’ heads.”
