‘Blue Bloods’: Where You’ve Seen Erin Reagan Actress Bridget Moynahan Before

Actress Bridget Moynahan may have made headlines for her relationship with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. But chances are the “Blue Bloods” star is familiar to audiences from one of her previous roles.

When she was starting out as an actress, Moynahan played Natasha, Carrie’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) ex-boyfriend’s young wife, in “Sex and the City.” When her ex chooses Natasha over her, Carrie is heartbroken. But the two exes soon start up an affair. It ends with poor Natasha chasing Carrie down a stairwell, where she trips and breaks a tooth.

After “Sex and the City,” Moynahan appeared in the movie “Coyote Ugly,” in which she dances on a bar. That opened up a string of film roles, including in “Serendipity,” “The Sum of All Fears” and “Lord of War.”

But Moynahan’s professional life soon took a backseat to her personal drama. Brady left her for Gisele Bundchen just as she found out she was pregnant with his child. The tabloids had a field day.

It took a few years for Moynahan to get back on track, but soon she was appearing in movies like “Ramona and Beezus” and as Erin Reagan on “Blue Bloods.” She also went on to star in the sci-fi film “Battle: Los Angeles,” per Rotten Tomatoes.

Moynahan Spills on ‘Sex in the City’ and ‘Blue Bloods’

Her two most popular shows, “Sex in the City” and “Blue Bloods,” serve as bookends to Moynahan’s acting career thus far. And in a recent interview with New Beauty, Moynahan dished about both.

For starters, she said “Sex and the City” is “a gift that keeps giving.” Moynahan has never regretted launching her career with that show. And she’s aware of some fan buzz about the prospect of more from the show’s creators.

“There’s the conversation that ‘Sex and the City’ is coming back, so people are talking about it a lot right now—they’re mainly wondering what it will be and who is going to be in it and people do ask if Natasha is coming back,” Moynahan said. “I don’t really know. I haven’t heard anything about that. It’s definitely that show that just keeps giving; everyone gets re-excited every couple of years by it because something new comes out with it.”

Meanwhile, Moynahan is deeply grateful to be back on the set of “Blue Bloods” in spite of the pandemic. She said they’ve had to take a lot of precautions – masks, social distancing – but production has resumed.

“CBS really took enormous precautions to get everyone back to set, but that pretty much means wearing a mask the whole time until they say ‘action,’” Moynahan explained. “It’s a little harder for us because there’s not as much of a connection—that verbal connection, that creative connection—that we’re so used to. We can’t spend that time sitting around chatting and connecting on a personal level in between shots.”

Nonetheless, Moynahan was quick to note that they’re all glad to be working again after a hiatus. And she’s aware that some productions didn’t return as the pandemic ebbed, so she’s counting her blessings. All told, the actress, who recently celebrated her 50th birthday, has a lot to be thankful for.
