In a bittersweet ending, musician Jason Mraz dominated during last night’s Celebrity Wheel of Fortune episode but lost out on the $1 million grand prize.
In last night’s celebrity rendition of Wheel of Fortune, Mraz had a chance to win the one million for his charity of choice. The “I’m Yours” singer faced off against actresses Vivica A. Fox and Michelle Trachtenberg in yesterday’s primetime episode. He had full control of the game from start to finish. In fact, Mraz banked a whopping $85,000 halfway through the show for his charity, True Colors United.
Even though Fox and Trachtenberg fought back in the second half of the game show, Mraz still made it to the Bonus Round. Now, Mraz had his shot at earning his charity significantly more money. He just had to solve the final puzzle with “In The Kitchen” as his clue. Unfortunately, the puzzle wasn’t exactly easy.
Mraz didn’t have much to work with when hostess Vanna White revealed the two-word clue. It read “_ R _ _ N _ E _ _ N” at first before Mraz started guessing the answer. He guessed the second word “PAN” correctly, but couldn’t figure out the whole word, which was “BROWNIE PAN.”
Following the loss, host Pat Sajak revealed what lied within Mraz’s cash envelope.
“You know, you open these things up for good things. And then you have to show this,” Sajak said, as he revealed the $1 million prize the musician lost out on.
Yet the Celebrity Wheel of Fortune contestant still raked in a huge sum of money for his charity. True Colors Unite will receive more than $130,000 in donations because of Mraz’s performance.
Melissa Joan Hart Becomes First Million-Dollar Winner on ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’
Although luck wasn’t on Jason Mraz’s side this weekend, a few weeks ago, actress Melissa Joan Hart had the magic touch. While competing on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, the star became the first million-dollar winner on the game show.
The Sabrina, the Teenage Witch actress made history last month when she hit it big. Melissa beat out fellow celebrity contestants Tituss Burgess and Lacey Chabert on her way to earning $1 million for charity. So far, she’s the only competitor to win that much money on the popular game show.
Additionally, she spoke about her huge win after the show. The actress seemed genuinely surprised by her awesome performance. She also joked that witchcraft could have played a part in her huge win.
“I would like to say witchcraft was involved,” Hart said with a laugh after the show. “But to be honest, I prayed a lot more than any kind of sorcery. I literally prayed every round, especially that winning round. I’d close my eyes and say, ‘God, give me focus and calm and let me just read these letters.”
