So, Outsiders, is Sergeant Hank Voight about to sing “Sweet Home Chicago” and leave Chicago PD in his rearview mirror?
Let’s see if Jason Beghe, who plays Voight, will be around or not with the NBC police drama.
We look to One Chicago Center for some guidance. The short answer is no, Beghe is not leaving Chicago PD. Heck, why should he right now? Voight is in the middle of a most interesting storyline.
Chicago PD showrunner Rick Eid talked about Voight’s future and his struggles awaiting him in Season 9.
Eid told TV Line that “the events of the season finale showed how hard that change has been for [Voight], especially when circumstances test him to the extreme.
“It’s something Voight will continue to grapple with,” Eid said. “How does he fit into 2021? It’s a constant question.”
‘Chicago PD’ Star Might Go Off The Ledge Over Conflict With Halstead, Upton
What circumstances could push Voight off the ledge? Well, there is that conflict with Jay Halstead, played by Jesse Lee Soffer, and Hailey Upton, played by Tracy Spiridakos.
Voight is at the center of Chicago PD action. While he’s the man in charge, he also can move through the legal system and get results.
But Voight might need some help, too. Will Halstead send Voight’s name up the river for the murder of Roy Walton? We don’t know yet.
Beghe’s character is going through a tense time and must find his way out of it or face (more) prison time.
Jason Voight Made His Debut On Sister Franchise Show ‘Chicago Fire’
So, Voight appeared on Chicago Fire in his debut. He was trying to bribe Matthew Casey, played by Jesse Spencer, and hoped Casey would look the other way around his son’s DUI charge.
Well, that backfired. Voight ended up in prison. There was some fear that Jason Voight would attack Casey. He later got out of prison in exchange for some key information.
Chicago PD is part of the “One Chicago” franchise that airs on NBC on Wednesday nights. Catch an episode at 9 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Central.
At one point in an episode, Jay confronts Voight, telling the sergeant, “I don’t trust you.”
Voight tells Halstead, “I can’t have you in my unit if you don’t trust me.”
What are we supposed to do with that?
For now, it appears Halstead and Voight have officially butted heads and things look to be on the downturn.
However, according to Matt & Jess, Chicago PD showrunners have not given fans reason to believe either character is on their way out of the series.
One thing we know, Outsiders. This storyline is filled with drama and keeps all of us who watch the show guessing.
