Who knew the country would be so divided over a haircut? When reality star Chip Gaines, of the famous Fixer Upper team, announced he would be shaving his head, fans immediately split into two camps: one for the new look and one against. Gaines has been growing his hair out for a while. Previously, he rocked a shaggy short cut, but now he lets his blond hair flow down to his shoulders.
Of course, the most important opinion over his hair (besides himself) is that of Chip Gaines’ wife and other half of the Fixer Upper duo, Joanna Gaines. Like her husband, Joanna has long hair. However, her hair is a bit more styled than her husband’s Cali-surfer look. She might not have liked the long look on her husband originally, but as she told Today, “It’s grown on me.”
“I think I’m going to miss it, for sure,” Joanna added.
After Chip Gaines spent so long growing out his locks, he would have to have a pretty good reason to get rid of them. And he does. Gaines’ new look is in celebration of the couple’s new network, Magnolia Network. He also wants to donate his hair once the deed is done.
Chip Gaines Intends to Donate Hair Again
When social restrictions first began, and barbershops weren’t accepting clients, Chip Gaines didn’t opt for a home haircut. Instead, he let his hair grow au natural.
“The pandemic hit and we just cut that out of our typical routine, probably like most people, and so after it got a little longer and a little longer, I just was like, ‘You know what, I’m going to go for it. I’m going to grow this out,’” Gaines told Today.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time Chip Gaines has grown his hair out for charity. Just four years ago, Gaines donated his hair to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He’s just as excited to do it again, but there’s one change this time. Instead of just reverting to his short hair, Gaines is shaving it all off.
“I like to continue to bring in bucket lister-type situations into my life,” Gaines shared. “I’ve never been bald before.”
Twitter Fans Divide Over Gaines’ Upcoming Hairdo
As with just about any topic on Twitter, fans of Joanna and Chip Gaines have split into two teams of the matter of the Fixer Upper star. Gaines, always insightful, likened the situation to the state of the nation.
“It’s like the rest of the country sadly in some ways, you know? Nobody can agree on anything,” Gaines shared. “You’re either in this camp or this camp.”
He continued, “Well, Twitter is very similar in that regard with my hair, it’s either you love this, or you hate it.”
If there’s a Switzerland or some other neutral territory then count us in. We’re in the camp that thinks Chip Gaines can rock just about any hairstyle.
