Today is a very good day for fans of the hit crime show, Criminal Minds. It’s being reported by multiple sources that a reboot of the popular show is in the works at Paramount Plus.

Although details at this time are still under wraps, we know that longtime Criminal Minds executive producer Erica Messer will return to work on the reboot. It sounds like the new show will be sticking to what they know best. Similar to the original series, CBS Studios and ABC Signature are in line to produce.

However, we have yet to find out who in the original cast will return if they do decide to to bring anyone back on. It has been reported that “several are expected to return.”

The original Criminal Minds is a terrific binge watch that ran for 15 seasons. In doing so, the show put together over 300 episodes during its tenure on CBS.

Of course, fans of the show know that it follows a group of FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit profilers. They are responsible for analyzing the most dangerous serial killers in an attempt to put a stop to them committing future crimes.

The show was created by Jeff Davis. Over the course of its run, it starred Thomas Gibson, Matthew Gray Gubler, Aisha Tyler, A.J. Cook, Joe Mantegna, Daniel Henney, Shemar Moore, Paget Brewster, Kirsten Vangsness, and Adam Rodriguez, among others.

The first 12 seasons of Criminal Minds are available to stream on Netflix. Seasons 13-15 are available on Hulu.

The show also gave way to two spinoffs, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

‘Criminal Minds’ Reboot One of Several Projects

Meanwhile, a Criminal Minds reboot would be just one of several other projects in the works at Paramount Plus. That of course is the new name for the streaming service CBS All Access. It is being rebranded now that the Viacom-CBS merger is complete.

Just last week, it was announced that revival of the MTV reality series The Real World is being set up as well. The cast of the show’s first season will be reuniting for The Real World Homecoming: New York.

Further, it had been previously reported that a docuseries titled The Real Criminal Minds would debut on Paramount Plus. And all of us here at Outsider super excited about the prequel series to the popular Paramount Network drama Yellowstone. That was also announced to be in the works at the streamer.

Many fans are wondering why the Criminal Minds reboot is in the works on the streaming service rather than at CBS. However, we know that CBS is plotting expansions of both the FBI and NCIS franchises with the potential spinoffs NCIS: Hawaii and FBI: International.
