If you can’t get enough of Elvis Presley, this is about to put you in high spirits. The King is getting his very own channel.
Considering the illustrious career and intense following Elvis Presley amassed, there’s a seemingly endless amount of content available. Now, his estate is looking to put as much of they can in one place.
As Deadline reported, Elvis Presley Enterprises is teaming up with Cinedigm to create the streaming channel. It will be conveniently called, The Elvis Presley Channel.
However, there is going to be a bit of a wait for fans. The channel is set to roll out in 2022. In terms of offerings, it will show specials, performances and anything else they can make and obtain from their archives. It will also feature content about other prominent musicians of Elvis’ era.
Thanks to Cinedigm’s distribution partnerships, folks will be able to watch the channel on platforms like Amazon, Roku and Hulu.
Erick Opeka, President of Cinedigm Digital Networks gave a statement with the channel’s announcement.
“There are few individuals more iconic than Elvis Presley, he transcends time, genre and medium,” Erick Opeka said. “The opportunity to build a branded channel around Elvis opens up streaming possibilities to an entirely new demographic in the fastest-growing segment of the ad-supported business. The channel will allow a whole new audience to experience Elvis, while also giving his fans a more in-depth look at their idol.”
Per Deadline, a couple of examples of specials the channel will feature are Elvis Aloha from Hawaii Via Satellite and Elvis by the Presleys.
Elvis Presley Estate Looks Back at the King’s Moves
When it comes to hip and pelvic moves, Elvis Presley is still the King. One could say that artists may have matched or bested his moves, but they didn’t completely shift the entertainment landscape like his did.
So every day is a good day to look back at the King’s moves. That’s exactly what the Presley estate did on June 29, posting an iconic photo and quote on social media.
“Rhythm is something you either have or don’t have, but when you have it, you have it all over.” – Elvis Presley
Presley didn’t just know how rhythm worked, he exemplified it. Whether the gyrations are up your alley or not, there is no denying his dancing was like a car crash: you couldn’t look away.
As Outsider’s own Madison Miller wrote, one of the King’s most legendary performances was both an example of his dancing, as well as the hot water the moves got him in.
On June 6, 1956, Elvis Presley dropped his guitar to dance during “Hound Dog” and by the next day, it was a major national scandal. At just 21-years-old, the King was still finding his feet in the business. In terms of a first impression, it could have gone better.
But at the end of the day, America’s younger generations couldn’t get enough. What would come next was 20+ years of stardom that still stands out today.
