Bob Denver was most known for his role in the classic sitcom “Gilligan’s Island.”

He starred as the main character, Willy Gilligan, the accident-prone first mate of the S.S. Minnow.

As for his personal life, Denver was married four times throughout his life. He was with Maggie Ryan, Jean Webber, Carole Abrahams, and Dreama Perry. Denver married Dreama Perry in 1979 and was with her all the way until he died in 2005 from complications related to his throat cancer.

She wrote a book about him titled “Gilligan’s Dreams” that talks about the kind of man Denver was outside of his role in “Gilligan’s Island.” She was given the Ella Dickery Literacy Award for her work on the book.

Who Was Dreama Perry?

According to Fabiosa, the two met while they working on “Play It Again, Sam.” Perry said it was an instant connection. The two proceeded to date for two years and then Bob Denver popped the question.

This Hollywood couple’s marriage lasted nearly 30 years.

“There’s something beautiful about the tapestry of life to look at that person and know that he has been yours and you have been theirs. That’s missing in today’s relationship,” Perry said about their relationship.

As for her career, Perry had a small acting resume. She was known for her role in the movie “The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan’s Island.” The movie came out in 1981 and featured most of the original cast of the series. She played the secretary of the Howell family.

As the title explains pretty clearly, the film follows the same group, but now the famous Harlem Globetrotters have crash-landed alongside them. They make their presence and basketball skills known immediately by fighting off a shark by throwing basketballs at it.

Dreama Perry is also known for her role in 1982 movie, “Scamps.” It’s about a writer who makes his home into a daycare center to pay his bills.

Following his death, she founded Always Free Honor Flight. This is an honor flight program in West Virginia that flies veterans out to memorials in Washington, D.C.

This is what she considers living out Bob Denver’s legacy.

“Bob would be proud. The life I had known for close to thirty years changed dramatically when Bob passed away, but I came to understand that honoring his memory meant living a full and happy life, carrying on the work we started with a heart as big as his,” Dreama Perry said.
