Massively popular game show “Jeopardy!” continues to press forward with a revolving door of various celebrities standing behind the lectern.
Currently standing behind the “Jeopardy!” host’s podium is medical professional and journalist Dr. Sanjay Gupta. The neurosurgeon and CNN medical correspondent has largely drawn positive reviews to this point in his tenure.
He began his stint as “Jeopardy!” guest host on Monday (June 28) and will continue through this week and next. His final “Jeopardy!” episode is set to air next Friday, once his two weeks are up. To date, Gupta has appeared in two episodes of the hit quiz show with his third episode coming this evening (Wednesday).
After receiving some praise from a United States Military veteran, Gupta was quick to thank the vet for his service. He uses social media to express his gratitude for the compliment and for protecting our country.
“I must admit, I was surprised by Dr. Sanjay Gupta being so good as guest host of ‘Jeopardy!,'” the Navy veteran says in his tweet. “It is though he has been doing it for years.”
“Thank you for that — and for your service,” Gupta says in a response tweet.

“As a lifelong ‘Jeopardy!’ fan, I’m proud to celebrate your success on the program,” a fan writes. “I believe Alex would be very proud of your efforts as well.”
Another fan and social media user says the new guest hosts making for an enjoyable watching experience.
“I totally enjoy watching you guest host “Jeopardy!,'” another fan tweets, “You are an excellent host.”
In his opening monologue, Gupta spoke of being a fan of the show and his admiration for Alex Trebek. He says he used to watch “Jeopardy!” with his parents but now watches the show with his own children.
“It’s all in the family,” the “Jeopardy!” Instagram account states. “Dr. Sanjay Gupta used to watch ‘Jeopardy!’ with his folks, and now he watches the game show with his three teenage daughters.”
Gupta is the 11th celebrity to take on guest-hosting duties since Trebek’s passing late last year. Other prominent names taking on the challenge include former contestant Ken Jennings, NFL star Aaron Rodgers and actress Mayim Bialik.
