On Tuesday, current Jeopardy! guest host Dr. Sanjay Gupta retweeted the game show’s post about a particular category he thinks he would’ve faired well in.
Gupta is in the second half of his two-week stint on the show. Like many other celebrity interims before him, he’s taken over Jeopardy! temporarily in the wake of longtime host Alex Trebek’s November death. Many of the guest hosts have spoken out about how they think they’d do on the other side of the podium as a contestant.
Some have admitted they wouldn’t be very competitive. Others like Gupta think they could be successful on the game show if the right category came up. However, to be a Jeopardy! champion, you can’t only be an expert in one or two subjects. You have to be well-rounded when it comes to your trivia knowledge.
CNN’s chief medical correspondent said that’s one of his favorite things about the popular game show. That to be successful on Jeopardy!, it will test contestants on a wide-range of subjects. As a dad to three young children though, there’s at least one category Gupta would’ve done well in.
The game show recently featured the category “DISNEY MOVIES BY SONGS.” Thanks to his three kids, it sounds like their dad might’ve run the table in the category.
“One of my favorite things about @Jeopardy! is that it tests the full range of your knowledge. As a father of three young ones, I actually did well with @Disney songs,” Gupta tweeted.
‘Jeopardy!’ Host Reveals Huge Amount the Game Show Has Raised for Charity So Far
Today, Gupta shared what category he’d excel in on Jeopardy!. In addition, as his second week of hosting duties began yesterday, the guest host revealed the massive total donations raised by the game show for charity.
As each interim completes their short stint on the game show, Jeopardy! is donating huge sums of money to each’s host’s favorite charity. The game show is matching the total contestant winnings after each celebrity’s time on the show comes to an end. Yesterday, the Atlanta-based neurosurgeon shared an updated total for how much money the game show has donated altogether since the guest hosts took over.
“Over the past several months as Jeopardy! has featured guest hosts, the show has matched the total contestant winnings and made donations to some great causes. As of last week, Jeopardy! has donated more than $2 million to charity, and there’s much more to come,” Gupta announced.
“So good luck to Courtney, Mark, and Rebecca. I hope you earn a lot of money for both yourselves and the charity I selected, which is Odyssey Atlanta. Let’s play Jeopardy!,” Gupta added.
