If you don’t enjoy a punny pun or six, then turn back now. ‘Jeopardy!’ legend Ken Jennings is laying ’em heavy on Twitter today, and his latest is so, so very Ken Jennings.
“It’s been over 20 years but I’m finally ready to say: I don’t like to move it move it…”
These are, in fact, the words of ‘Jeopardy!’s “Greatest of All Time,” Ken Jennings. If you’re as big a fan of the show as Outsider – which, of course you are, you’re here! – then this doesn’t surprise you in the least. Jennings is an absolute treasure of a nerd – an everyman’s genius. And we love him for it.
As do his followers and fans. It took precisely the same amount of seconds it does to spell “tweet” for others to reply with their own musical puns. It became, as one might say, a punaway… Get it?
First up is Gage Murphy, who asks “Quick question, are your hands in the air? Follow-up question, do you care?”
A perfectly executed ‘Jeopardy!’-spun-pun. Next is Tim Buckley who asks (and please don’t hold us responsible for this):
“But, did you let the dogs out?”
…Is this actually that much worse than Jennings’ pun? Or does it just hurt more for no reason?
Let us serve a palette cleanser in the form of one David Bober’s perfectly deadpan, non pun-laden response:
“I’m not sure how I feel about women moving like a big ship on de ocean like a big Titanic, as I believe the popular beat combo suggested…”
Classic. All puns above are, for those playing the home game, referencing incredibly-popular and immensely-overplayed pop songs from the last several decades.
‘Jeopardy!’s Ken Jennings is On Every Game Show Ever Now?
Miss Ken Jennings and his puns on ‘Jeopardy!’ already? Then we have great news! His new primetime gig, ‘The Chase,’ is a must-watch for gameshow fans.
If you’re still here, chances are you’ve seen or heard a snippet about ‘The Chase,’ ABC’s new primetime game show. Just like ‘Jeopardy!’ – ‘The Chase’ has been around for a long time. Originally a British game show of the same name, the show was first brought to the U.S. for the Gameshow Network in 2013. Now, ABC is reviving the classic for primetime – and they’re doing so with ‘Jeopardy!’s three All-Time Champions.
That’s right, ‘The Chase’ brings champions Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, and Brad Rutter, together as “The Chasers” of ‘The Chase. This trio consists of the three highest winning Jeopardy!’ contestants ever, with Jennings leading the pack.
Fresh off his interim hosting duties on ‘Jeopardy!’, the champ adds that “You already know the Chasers, and you know that they have a relationship, and it really gives us a leg up. We don’t have to create any kind of personas, because you already know, James gonna James,” he says of fellow All-Time-Champ Holzhauer.
Classic Ken. And if ‘The Chase’ isn’t enough Ken Jennings for you, then feast your eyes on ‘Master Minds’ next. Yes – this is the third gameshow Jennings has been a prominent player for in a matter of months. And we’re not mad about it!
