Today (Monday, June 14, 2021), the very first episode of “Jeopardy!” with “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie as guest host will air across the United States.

According to Deseret News, Guthrie’s stint as the guest host of “Jeopardy!” will continue until June 25. She is the 10th individual to stand behind the show’s famous podium since the passing of longtime host Alex Trebek during November 2020.

Most fans of the famous quiz show can’t help but wonder who will take over as the show’s full-time host. Guthrie recently told “People” that she has no interest in taking over for Trebek, even though she enjoyed her time as guest host.

“… And I know those ‘Jeopardy!’ fans are picky, but I have to say, I’m just the fill-in so don’t worry! … I loved it. I had so much fun, but I have a day job,” Guthrie said.

Like the previous guest hosts of “Jeopardy!” before her, the “Today” show anchor is also raising funds for the charity of her choice. Guthrie selected the New York City-based organization The Bowery Mission. This charity works to provide aid to the hungry and homeless in the city. It provides community and residential programs, as well as substance abuse programs. It is also a Christian organization that works to share that faith with the people it serves. The Bowery Mission also provides assistance and enrichment programs to youth throughout the year.

‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants Praise Savannah Guthrie for Her Work as Guest Host

Prior to the debut of Savannah Guthrie as the guest host of “Jeopardy!” contestants on the show were already praising her work. Her own show, “Today” shared their thoughts with a report that aired on Monday, June 14. Their comments were part of a behind-the-scenes report about the quiz show.

“She read the clues beautifully, she ran the game beautifully, tons across the board,” one of the contestants said.

“She kept everything moving along with the questions,” another shared. “It was just all around great.”

This praise must have come as good news to Savannah Guthrie. She previously said that she was “nervous” to host “Jeopardy!”

“I was very nervous. Of course I was nervous. It’s a really hard job, and getting here didn’t make me any less nervous,” Guthrie said. “The more I knew about what was required, the more nervous I was.”

One thing that helped Guthrie deal with those nerves was her experience being on camera so often during her career as a journalist.

“I think being a journalist working in television every day — working in live television — I think it helps because I’m used to being on camera,” she also said.

After Savannah Guthrie’s stint as a guest host on “Jeopardy!” ends, Dr. Sanjay Gupta will next stand behind the podium. His episodes will air from June 28 through July 9.
