The “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions comes to an end next week. So it’s only a matter of time before the show gets back to the regular guest-hosting schedule. And that means we’re one step closer to seeing LeVar Burton throw his hat in the ring for the permanent job. The upcoming guest host and “Reading Rainbow” star recently retweeted a picture of himself on “CBS This Morning,” and he’s looking good.
Earlier this year, Burton made headlines when a petition to make him the next host of “Jeopardy!” started making its way around the internet. He appreciated the gesture by thanking Joshua Sanders, who started the petition when Alex Trebek passed away. And Burton embraced the opportunity, saying “I don’t believe there is anyone out there who is better suited for this job than me.”
Now, the “Star Trek” star is looking “moisturized and unbothered.” It’s his new mantra, in case you thought it’d make for a good one. It does, and LeVar agrees. Of course, all the credit goes to the Twitter user who made the original post that went viral a few days ago.
You’re simply glowing, LeVar. At 64 years young, no less. And we’re here for it. This image could be in a textbook under “Reasons for Having a Skincare Routine.”
One Twitter user wrote, “Mr Burton… you look damn good at this desk. Looks forward to watching you on Jeopardy.
“A 1987 episode of Reading Rainbow just helped my daughter overcome her fear of bees,” another added, which brings us to LeVar Burton’s merits as a television host.
LeVar Burton is Among the Most Qualified Candidates for Permanent ‘Jeopardy!’ Hosting Gig
LeVar Burton has had a prolific career as an actor and host on television. And you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone among the “Jeopardy!” guest hosts that can stack up. Well, we’re only counting the ones who have stated their desire to be the next permanent host.
But on top of his sheer experience and poise on TV, Burton has decades of background in educational programming. And no one has made a better and more succinct case for him than Josh Sanders himself, the author of the infamous petition.
“Between hosting 21 seasons of the educational Reading Rainbow, playing the brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: the Next Generation, and filling the role of Kunta Kinte in the ever-important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds,” Josh wrote on Change.org.
Fans will have to wait until this summer to find out who “Jeopardy!” will choose as their next permanent host. But rest assured, we’ll have it covered here at Outsider.
