For actor Dylan McDermott of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” finding a cool place to chill out led him to a sweet spot in Costa Rica.

McDermott, who plays Richard Wheatley in the NBC crime drama, decided to share his current life status with his followers on social media.

It’s probably hard to imagine McDermott, whose character on “Law & Order: Organized Crime” leads a double life as a crime boss, sitting, smoking a cigar, and holding a dog. Yet there he is, basking in the glory of sunshine and sand in the land of Costa Rica.

McDermott is no rookie when it comes to playing in legal or crime dramas. He received a Golden Globe Award for his role on “The Practice” as lawyer/law firm leader Bobby Donnell.

The first season of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” brings “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” star Christopher Meloni back into the land of television. He’s still playing Elliot Stabler, but he is a former SVU detective back in action after retiring. His main goal? Find the killers of his wife.

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Star Receives High Praise From Meloni

Speaking of Chris Meloni, he finds working with someone like McDermott really ups his game.

It’s not surprising as both are veteran actors who entered “Law & Order: Organized Crime” with a lot of time on television in their resumes.

Meloni talked about working with McDermott in an interview with GoldDerby.com.

“He [McDermott] and I had quite a few long discussions because we both came out of the same acting technique [Meisner] and we’re of the same years,” Meloni said. “And I have found that when I work with someone who has done the Meisner technique, there’s a shorthand.”

Meloni said using that technique makes working with a similarly-trained actor easier. He added that being involved in project becomes “a richer experience” while working with McDermott.

Will Fans See Stabler Make Another Crossover Visit to ‘SVU’ Next Season?

Obviously, Meloni’s Stabler is the good guy here while McDermott’s Wheatley is the heavy on the show. That’s the way it’s worked out in the first season. For “Law & Order” brand show fans, you can expect to see these two again as the NBC show will come back for a second season.

Could “Law & Order: Organized Crime” fans possibly see Stabler make a crossover visit to his old “SVU” stomping grounds next season? Well, longtime viewers of “SVU” know that Stabler and Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, have had some synergy between them.

It would not be surprising to see it happen again as Stabler did show up during last season. Yet “Law & Order” always does a good job of making sure each show in its brand stays on point.

Both “SVU” and “Organized Crime” were scheduled back to back during last season on NBC. Fans probably will see the schedule stay put for Meloni’s second season in the saddle once again as Stabler.

“SVU” isn’t going anywhere, either, as ratings continue to firing on all cylinders.
