Law & Order: Organized Crime is on hiatus, and fans are struggling. Hopefully, this Dylan McDermott appreciation video will give you some form of content while you wait for season 2. The show, which stars Chris Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler, is the newest in the Law & Order franchise.
Law & Order: Organized Crime follows Stabler as he returns to the force after his wife dies in a car bomb meant for him. The dark, gritty, and interesting procedural takes a new look at Elliot stabler after his character retired a decade ago. Meloni left Law & Order: SVU after a contract dispute.
The Law & Order Twitter posted a compilation video of Dylan McDermott’s moments throughout the first season.
“He may be the bad guy, but @DylanMcDermott is [fire emojis],” the account tweeted. McDermott is also known for his work on American Horror Story and The Practice. Now, he plays crime lord Richard Wheatley.
Season 2 of ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Will Feature Three Big Bads
Richard will be far from the only bad guy on the show. In fact, according to Dick Wolf, the infamous Hollywood Producer who created the franchise, season 2 will be packed full of bad guys.
“The first third of the season is The Godfather. The second third is American Gangster. And the last third is Scarface,” Wolf told TV Line. “And these villains are going to be really bad guys that give [Stabler] a constant source of energy, outrage, belief in justice, and a different way of pursuing criminals than we’ve had before,” he said.
It’ll be interesting to find out who is cast as those villains. It’ll be hard to top a performance like Dylan McDermott’s. Knowing Law & Order: Organized Crime, however, they’re sure to find someone great.
Season 2 Will Also Have More Crossover Events
One thing people loved about Organized Crime was Mariska Hargitay’s appearance on the show. Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson on SVU, starred alongside Chis Meloni until he left the show in 2011. Fans were thrilled to see the pair back together again.
And thankfully, those crossover events aren’t going anywhere for either show. We’ll probably see more of Meloni on SVU and Hargitay on Organized Crime. Producers have even said crossover events will be easier in 2021. With COVID restrictions relaxing and schedules better lining up, there will be more opportunity for the shows to crossover and link up.
On top of SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime, Law & Order is adding another series to its lineup, Law & Order: For the Defense. How or if it’ll cross over with the other two shows remains unknown.
For the Defense follows a group of defense lawyers as they work to prove the innocence of their clients. A crossover could potentially work very well for either of the shows, perhaps with main characters butting heads.
Law & Order: Organized Crime will be back in full swing this fall on NBC.
