Is Kelli Giddish thinking of leaving her Law & Order: SVU team? Not if she wants to keep her house.
Aside from Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni, Kelli Giddish is one of the most senior cast members on Law & Order: SVU. Her character, Detective Amanda Rollins, joined the NYPD Special Victims Unit back in 2007, and she’s been a pivotal series regular ever since.
But last season, rumors started circling about Giddish’s future with the series. After Rollins was absent from the screen for a few episodes, people started speculating that the show was preparing to write her off. And because so many characters have left the show during its 22-year run, they had a reason to worry.
But according to an interview with Smashing Interviews Magazine, Giddish isn’t planning on quitting any time soon. In fact, she hadn’t even heard the rumors about her imminent departure.
When the magazine asked if she’s leaving SVU, Giddish laughed and said, “I hope not! I’ve got house payments.”
But aside from the financial security Giddish gets from her job, the actress also enjoys working on the series. So because of that, she said that leaving is “not an option right now.”
“No,” she added. “We’re having too much fun.”

Law & Order: SVU star Kelli Giddish has played Detective Amanda Rollins for 14 years. And during that time, she’s watched her character grow into a strong, independent woman.
But one of Giddish’s favorite aspects of Rollins is her deeply intimate relationship with Dominick Carisi. The two spent years building a strong bond before becoming a couple in season 23. And the actress appreciated how the show portrayed friendship.
“It’s a developed, hard-won friendship,” Giddish told CinemaBlend. “I think Carisi is the first person that Rollins calls or leans on or depends on throughout the tumult of being a working mom in New York and working on Special Victims and having a not-so-normal job. And, you know, her kids love him and it’s a deep friendship. And I’m so grateful that we get to portray that, on-screen and any moments that they give us to kind of flesh that out are just so easy to play with, with Peter.”
However, Giddish admits that it’s “strange” to be touchy-feely with her real-life friend and Carisi actor Peter Scanavino this year.
“It’s just so strange for us to be romantic on the show,” Giddish told Smashing Interviews Magazine last month. “But I think we both realize how much it means to the fans and how much it means to our characters. It seems so organic and so right that we’re willing to go for it even though we’re very good friends in real life.”
