Getting down on one knee for anybody can be nerve-racking and Blake Shelton is confessing to talk show host Bobby Bones what the most daunting part was in his recent engagement.
This is the second time that Blake Shelton has bent the knee but he was still nervous about one aspect of the ritual when it came to asking Gwen Stefani for her hand in marriage.
“The scariest thing was I had that ring in the compartment on the door of my truck for about a week, and I don’t know about you, but stuff falls out of that damn thing on my truck all the time,” Shelton shares. “I’m digging in there looking for a flashlight or chains and kept thinking, man somebody’s going to hit the jackpot whenever I drop this thing out of my truck.”
“I wanted to keep it in there all the time because I didn’t know when I would have the exact right moment. But thank God I didn’t lose her ring,” the country music artist says.
Shelton wanted to be surrounded by family and in Oklahoma when he popped the question. Stefani’s kids were there, as well his family and members of the “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” singer.
He continues to say that he felt that having the kids there was an important moment.
Blake Shelton to Wed Gwen Stefani in Small Ceremony
Blake Shelton asked Gwen Stefani to marry him at the end of October 2020. The two had been dating for five years after they met on the set of “The Voice.”
According to US Weekly, the Shelton worked on the chapel himself. This is the same chapel that he asked Stefani to marry him in. The structure sits on Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch.
Stefani even offered her “input” on the chapel’s design. Additionally, the two singers reportedly plan to have their wedding early next year. This news keeps in line with previous reports the couple wanted a small wedding. Reportedly, Shelton and Stefani want an intimate affair with only their closest family present.
Furthermore, the couple has purchased property together. Shelton and Stefani bought a $13.2 million mansion together in California this year.
Shelton Will Be Returning To ‘The Voice’
In the interview with Bobby Bones, the “Austin” singer also tells the radio show host that he will be returning to the singing competition “The Voice” next year.
Bones ask if this season is going to be the last one for the most-winningest coach on the talent show.
“No, it’s not going to be,” Blake Shelton says squashing any rumors. “Believe it or not we have filmed the blind auditions for next season already back in October. So you’re stuck with me at least for next year’s ‘Voice‘.”
