Dolly Parton added posing for Playboy to her resume when she was 32-years old.
Dolly Parton graced the cover of the October 1978 issue of Playboy magazine. She can be seen wearing the iconic bunny outfit, complete with bowtie, sequin cuffs, and ears. The cover also teases the interview with the “country queen Dolly Parton.”
Parton was modest in her 30s and didn’t want to pose nude, but rather preferred cover-up. She reflects, “I wasn’t naked; all you saw was me in my bunny suit, with my boobs sticking out a little. I wouldn’t do a layout. I’m not that brave, nor do I look that good!”
Parton actually showed off her Playboy cover photo earlier this year, sparking the “Dolly Parton Challenge.” The challenge pits users to find different photos of themselves that would be appropriate profile photos for four different social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Tinder.
The “9 to 5” singer includes her iconic cover photo as the Tinder profile option. As a matter of fact, she captions the photo, “Get you a woman who can do it all 😉”
Dolly Parton Explains Posing for Playboy
The legend became the first country singer to pose for the magazine. But this did not come without some specific boundaries set in place by Parton. Those boundaries included absolutely no nudity.
Her website reads, “I have been asked, back in the day, but that was so totally not me. I would never do that… But that was a good article they ran in there, and it was just a fun thing to do. That was just another way I was trying to market myself, at that time, to kinda get in the mainstream…”
Parton first mentioned that she would like to pose for Playboy again when both she and the magazine both celebrated their milestone birthdays. If things go as planned, this would be for the January 2021 issue.
“I thought it would be such a hoot if they’ll go for it – I don’t know if they will – if I could be on the cover again when I’m 75,” she said, confirming that she could “probably” still wear her original outfit from the 1978 photoshoot. Parton hints that her “assets” are still the same.
The interview was published weeks before Playboy announced it would suspend production of its print edition due to the coronavirus pandemic. She then spoke about gracing the magazine’s cover again in October.
Playboy is on Board for a Dolly Photoshoot
Playboy recently confirmed that they’re ready for a repeat cover appearance if Parton is.
They’ve gone a record saying, “The magazine would love to shoot Dolly again, and she knows all she has to do is say the word, and it’s on!”
Now we just sit back and wait for Parton to respond and see if there are any stipulations around the photoshoot this time around.
