Today, country music enthusiasts are celebrating the 13th anniversary of the release of 2007’s George Strait CD, “22 More Hits.”
Although Strait had already released his “50 Number Ones” album, the “22 More Hits” CD was released Nov. 13, 2007, giving fans something more than just Strait’s most popular hits.

“22 More Hits” is comprised of those songs that didn’t make it into the top 50 on the country charts, except for “She Let Herself Go”, which is hidden amongst the tracks on the album.
The CD features songs from Strait’s 1981 debut single “Unwound” to a more recent single at the time of the album’s release, “How ’bout Them Cowgirls”.
The 2007 Release of More George Strait Singles
The album is intended to be a companion to his previous “50 Number Ones” album, a 2004 compilation featuring all of Strait’s singles reaching number one up to that point. The CD is special because it consists of 22 fan favorites that weren’t available on the previous record.
“I’ve had people ask me why this song or that song wasn’t on the ’50 Number Ones’ album,” says Strait. “If it’s their favorite song, I guess they don’t care if it was number one on a chart. This album gave me the chance to include some of the fans other favorites and mine.”
About the album
The newer set consists of 22 fan favorites and well-known Strait hit singles that despite not quite reaching No. 1 on country radio, still made an impression on country music fans.
Strait compiles timeless pieces into “22 More Hits,” like “If You’re Thinking You Want A Stranger,” “Amarillo By Morning,” “The Fireman,” “Cowboys Like Us,” “You’ll Be There,” and “Marina Del Ray”.
The release of “22 More Hits” comes on the heels of the announcement that Strait would begin a nationwide arena tour Jan. 10, 2008 in Austin.
Now, 13 years later, George Strait is still one of the memorable names in country music. Both “22 More Hits” and “50 Number Ones” are available on all music streaming sites.
