Keith Urban knows how to put on a good show. The country music singer-songwriter did it again during a New Year’s Eve concert back in 2017.

A lot of talented, gifted musicians died that year, including Tom Petty, Chris Cornell, Gregg Allman, and others. Urban pays tribute to them in a set of songs, starting off with Cornell and Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.”

That’s followed by a little of Gregg Allman’s “Midnight Rider,” then a touch of “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry. He finishes up by performing Petty’s “Free Fallin’.”

Urban’s performance is one that probably stirred up a lot of memories in people’s hearts for these performers.

Take a few minutes and listen to Keith Urban paying tribute to these musical giants.

Keith Urban Surprises Young Fan During 2016 Concert

Keith Urban puts on concerts that bring out young and old fans alike. During one concert in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, he became distracted after seeing hand-crafted, guitar-shaped signs. He was impressed enough to invite the sign-holders on stage in front of 20,000 people.

The two young girls introduced themselves as sisters. Keith Urban gave the microphone to 14-year-old Hailey Benedict, asking her what she wants to do when she grows up. Benedict said that she’s always wanted to be a singer and songwriter.

Urban called out to the girls’ mother in the crowd, telling her that he approved of the choice. While smiling, he asked Benedict if she writes songs and plays the guitar. She said yes to both questions. Urban requested that someone bring her a guitar.

Before she knew it, she was getting ready to perform in front of Urban and thousands of onlookers.

Urban Receives High Praise For His Guitar Work

Urban’s guitar work has been recognized in country music circles. He received quite a testimonial from singer-songwriter Tim McGraw.

McGraw talked about making his hit song “Highway Don’t Care” on the “Inside Machine Hits” series.

He said that once he knew Taylor Swift was on board for the song, he “really” wanted Urban to join as well.

I’m a huge fan of his playing, fan of his singing, just a fan of the person that he is as well,” McGraw said. “So I sent it over to Keith and right away he sent it back and was very happy to play on it.”
