On the sixth season of the singing competition show, ‘The Voice,’ we look back on Morgan Wallen’s cover of “Stay.”

Morgan Wallen is almost unrecognizable with his long hair that isn’t styled into a mullet and a shirt that doesn’t have the sleeve cut off. Ahh, yes. The pre-fame Morgan Wallen.

In 2014, Wallen’s name first started to get some attention when he took his turn on “The Voice.” After both judges Shakira and Usher turned around in his tryout to the song “Collide” by Howie Day, his raspy southern twang was memorable. Read more about it here.

The country artist performed Florida Georgia Line’s song “Stay,” where he knocked it out of the park. Wallen lasted pretty long on the show. He made it to the playoff round before being eliminated.

Morgan Wallen’s Professional Career

A year later, Morgan Wallen signed with Panacea Records and first made out with the EP Stand Alone.

In 2016, Wallen signed with Big Loud Records and released his hit ‘The Way I Talk” soon after signing. The country artist continued to have his name grow when he went on tour with the group he performed so many years before. Wallen accompanied Florida Georgia Line for their Dig Your Roots Tour from 2016 until 2017.

In addition, Wallen performed “Up Down,” and when Florida Georgia Line heard it, they started talks of a collaboration. The two artists were already friends, so the partnership wasn’t anything far fetched.

However, his most famous song came in 2018 with “Whiskey Glasses.” The song’s sales reached over 391,000 in the United States. In addition, “Whiskey Glasses” became four-time platinum.

Morgan Wallen has come a long way since “The Voice” becoming one of the most prominent names and notable voices currently in country music. He has released one studio album, with the other, named Dangerous: The Double Album, debuting on January 8. Wallen also has three extended plays.
