As the global COVID-19 pandemic rages on, people across the planet are hoping and praying for life to go back to normal as soon as possible. Dolly Parton is certainly one of those people.
On Thursday (Feb. 11), the country music icon appeared with music legend Barry Gibb for a video interview on Lorraine. And, of course, the coronavirus came up for discussion. The trio also talked about Parton’s support of a COVID-19 vaccine, Gibb’s new album, and when we might get to see and hear our favorite musicians perform in person again.
Lorraine Kelly brought up the future of concerts during the interview. She suggested Gibb should do a concert that included all the artists who collaborated with him. There are several of them on his latest album, “Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers’ Songbook (Vol. 1).” Dolly Parton is one of those collaborators. She joined him in singing “Words.”
“Wouldn’t that be amazing,” Kelly said. “It would,” Gibb agreed.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 is preventing that from happening anytime soon. “What we’re finding out is everyone is a little bit scared,” Gibb said. “Everyone is a little bit afraid of the virus. I can’t ever see us doing something like that unless we all feel safe.”

Kelly also thanked Parton for her financial donations to help create and develop a COVID-19 vaccine. While she acknowledged that the current state of the world does prevent us from gathering for concerts, Dolly Parton expressed hope for what life can be when COVID-19 is under control.
“I was just so happy to be part of that, to be part of it in any way,” Parton said. “I felt early on that we had to do whatever we could. So, I’m just happy that my little part has helped. And, I hope that we can get the vaccines out to everybody.
“Then, one of these days soon, ‘when life is good again,’ we’ll be able to get out and do the concerts and get back on the road and do the things we want to do,” Parton continued. “And, it will come one day. We may have a rough spot here for a little while … maybe the vaccine will help a lot. I’m just happy to be a part of anything and everything that I can do to help.”
“When Life is Good Again” was released last year by Dolly Parton. It’s an uplifting song about how we can all show more love for one another when we can safely gather together. “Let’s open up our hearts / And let the whole world in / Let’s try to make amends / When life is good again,” Parton sings.
