We’ve never smelled Dolly Parton but we imagine she’d smell like musical dreams and butterflies. So, who wouldn’t want to bottle that scent and offer it to the world? Well, that’s exactly what Dolly is doing. She just announced the release of her new perfume, Scent From Above.
We don’t know a whole lot about what all goes into creating a perfume so we did a little research. Turns out there are three layers to every scent: Top, heart, and base notes. Top notes are the scents you smell immediately after spraying the perfume onto your skin. The heart notes kick in after the initial burst of the top notes fade. And the base notes are the scents in the perfume that last the longest. So what notes does Dolly Parton’s new perfume include?
What Does The Perfume Smell Like?
In Scent From Above, the top notes combine scents from mandarin orange, black currant, crisp pear, and peony blossom. After those notes begin to fade, the heart notes kick in with scents from jasmine bouquets, lily of the valley and vanilla orchid. Lastly, the base notes include sandalwood fir absolute, musks, tonka bean, amber woods and patchouli.
That sounds a lot like musical dreams and butterflies to us, and we’re all for it!
On the website for the new fragrance, Dolly Parton talked about what inspired her to release the perfume. She said that she’s “been blending my own scent for years.” And that people have frequently asked her about her signature scents.
“Having my own perfume has always been a dream of mine,” writes Dolly. “For as long as I can remember, people have commented on my scent. ‘What are you wearing?,’ ‘What is that fantastic smell?,’ and ‘Where can I get it?'”
And now, after decades of inquiries, Dolly Parton is finally making her signature fragrance available to the world.
“It’s time for me to share this with you,” writes Dolly. “I hope you enjoy!”
