Garth Brooks went live on Facebook recently with a very special guest to deliver a message of hope to an ill fan. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson opened the country icon’s most recent live stream to deliver a message of hope to a fan.
“This one goes out to a strong woman named Melissa, AKA Missy. This is a big surprise for you. I know you are shocked to see DJ here,” he said in a videotaped message to open Brooks’ Inside Studio G. “… I know you’ve been battling stage IV breast cancer for six years now, and I know that you’re home. Keep fighting and keep staying strong, Missy. I also know you are Garth Brooks’ biggest fan. Garth Brooks is a buddy of mine, and you know I love my country music.”
Johnson then warbles one of the worst renditions of Brooks’ hit “Much Too Young (to Feel This Damn Old).” But it was a sweet gesture, and he even poked fun at himself. “I’m singing in keys that don’t exist,” he said after wildly missing several notes.
But Garth Brooks cleaned up his messy rendition with the real thing shortly thereafter.
“Hey, Missy, The Rock’s buddy. The Rock! That’s pretty cool,” he said. “You got some friends in high places.”
Kelly Clarkson Sings ‘The Dance’ to Garth Brooks
Garth Brooks was treated to a much better rendition of one of his songs recently when Kelly Clarkson performed “The Dance” at the 43rd Kennedy Center Honors. Garth Brooks was one of the honorees during the May ceremony.

Clarkson admitted to having a deep emotional connection to the song, as she explained to Brooks on her show that it helped her through her recent divorce.
“I couldn’t quite nail down the feeling,” Clarkson said during her show. “I was, like, well, you don’t want to crap on (my relationship). Like, you don’t want to say that didn’t count or matter, but you don’t know what to put in it because it didn’t work out how you wanted and so, anyway, I kid you not, I was listening to my playlist and ‘The Dance’ came on and I was like, ‘No, that’s the thing. That’s it.’”
But that deep connection only made the pressure to perform it well.
“I was texting Trisha Yearwood before the show and then I go on stage and I saw them and like all of a sudden I am the sweatiest human on planet earth,” Clarkson told Entertainment Tonight. “And I got a little nervous, and I don’t get nervous singing. Yep, I didn’t enjoy that!”
But she, of course, nailed the rendition. Garth Brooks even admitted to getting emotional hearing her perform the song.
“I’m already wishing I had a mask on so I could do this,” Brooks said in a preview of the event, as he tried to cover his tears. “And then the whole band kicks in. It’s just so pretty. (Clarkson) is a true friend to a song. She’s amazing.”
