It’s official: the female country legend and cutest grandma ever, Loretta Lynn, is protected from contracting coronavirus.
On Sunday, Lynn posted an adorable picture of herself following her COVID-19 vaccination.
“Well, I bundled up and Peggy Jean and I rolled out of Hurricane Mills so I could get this vaccine,” the 88-year-old icon wrote on Instagram.
“I’m sure glad to get it and am sure ready to put Covid in the rear view mirror! And I enjoyed the mom daughter time, too!”
The “Coal Miner’s Daughter” singer seemed to be ecstatic about getting the vaccination. Her fans shared the same sentiment, many of whom commenting their elation that Lynn wouldn’t be yet another country icon we would lose to COVID-19.
“So happy that you’re protected!” one user wrote.
Another user added, “Thank you for spreading awareness, Loretta! God bless u.”
Loretta Lynn’s COVID-19 Vaccine Comes At The Right Time
Even though she’s nearing 90, it looks Lynn has no plans to slow down. The legend plans to release her 50th studio album, Still Woman Enough, in March of this year.
The 13-song collection pays homage to the women in country music, spanning across all generations. The album also includes new records as well as reinterpretations of songs from throughout her career.
Female country artists featured on the album include Margo Price, Tanya Tucker, Reba McEntire, and Carrie Underwood.
“I am just so thankful to have some of my friends join me on my new album. We girl singers gotta stick together,” Loretta Lynn said in a statement.
“It’s amazing how much has happened in the 50 years since ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ first came out and I’m extremely grateful to be given a part to play in the history of American music.”
A trailer for the album shows Lynn recording at Cash Cabin in Hendersonville, Tennessee. In addition, the trailer includes a glimpse of a few of her famous guests, paired with a clip of Lynn’s recitation of “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”
