Luke Combs is sharing his memory of seeing his wife Nicole Hocking at their wedding for the first time. The country artist said it was his favorite moment of the wedding.

“I mean, seeing her for the first time was it, no doubt,” Combs told Radio’s Katie & Company. “We didn’t do a first-look thing. It was heavy in the best way. That caught me off guard, for sure.”

The moment moved Combs to tears of happiness. He said he expected to cry when he saw Nicole for the first time. But he underestimated how much of an emotional mess he would be.

“I had a pretty solid feeling that I was gonna cry,” Combs said. “But I didn’t know I was gonna cry that much. But I did. I was like doubled-over crying guy.”

Luke Combs Married Nicole Hocking in August 2020

Combs and Nicole got engaged in 2018 and wed in August 2020. The two married in an intimate ceremony, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on a beach in Florida. The singer revealed they changed venues and had to cut 70% of the guests they invited to the wedding.

“We were at the point where it was like, ’What else could go wrong?’” Combs said. “And here’s the thing: My wife worked really, really hard to settle that stuff up. We did have a wedding planner that she worked with. But she was very very heavily involved in the entire process. And so, we were really looking forward to it being a certain way and a certain thing.”

Still, the moment ended up being one of the happiest of Comb’s life. He’ll never forget seeing his wife in her wedding dress.

“At the end of the day, that ended up not mattering because it was still really beautiful and it was really everything that I wanted it to be, but I also want to be able to give her that thing that she spent so much time doing.”
