Maren Morris took home her first American Music Award.

What Maren Morris Had to Say

The “Girl” singer was not present at the 2020 American Music Awards on Sunday (November 22). The award for Favorite Female Country Artist was not televised. Morris accepted the award via social media. “I think this is my first ever fan voted award,” she tweeted. “Thank you all so much for voting.”

Morris has had a great year when it comes to awards. Morris won Single of the Year and Song of the Year at 2020 CMA Awards for “The Bones.” She also took home the Female Vocalist of the Year honor as well.

Other Nominees

Gabby Barrett was also nominated for the honor. The American Idol alum recently won the 2020 CMT Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year for “I Hope.”

Miranda Lambert was the other nominee. Lambert won the 2020 ACM Music Event of the Year for “Fooled Around and Fell In Love.” In addition, she also took home the CMA Music Video of the Year award for “Bluebird.”

AMAs Country Winners

The 2020 AMAs had numerous country winners. Dan + Shay took home every single award that they were nominated for. They won the all-genre Collaboration of the Year category with Justin Bieber for “10,000 Hours.” Additionally, they won for Favorite Country Song and Favorite Country Duo/Group. Finally, they also performed “I Should Probably Go To Bed.”

Blake Shelton took home the award for Favorite Country Album for Fully Loaded: God’s Country. Kane Brown took home Favorite Male Country Artist. Both awards were not televised during the broadcast of the awards show.

Although he wasn’t nominated, Darius Rucker gave a memorable performance with Katy Perry. The unlikely pair performed an acoustic rendition of Perry’s release, “Only Love.” Their duet came as a surprise and was announced just hours prior to the awards show.
