Shania Twain grew up in Timmins, Ontario. But her real hometown is another world away. She likens it to heaven.
For about three decades, Twain comes home to Corseaux, Switzerland. It’s an idyllic Alpine village on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland.
She talked about how much she adored her little area of Switzerland during her most recent edition of “Shania Twain’s Home Now” radio show on Apple Music.
“It’s a very beautiful region, very scenic,” Twain said. “I like to spend a lot of time boating on the lake, in fact, one of the neighboring properties is the studio where Queen spent many, many years writing and recording. Freddie Mercury lived in what is called “the Duck House” just a few ducks over from my boathouse.
“In fact, that perspective from the Duck House on the lake is on one of their album covers,” she said. “And (it’s) very appropriately named “Made In Heaven.” I’m assuming that a lot of the music was made in what many people consider heaven, Lake Geneva looking out at the Alps.”
Sounds blissful.
Shania Twain Loves Promoting Jazz Festival
Twain devoted her entire show to artists with ties to the Montreux Jazz Festival. It’s an international music festival with dates running throughout June. She said her home is walking distance to the festival grounds.
In 2019, she posted photos to social media of some of her favorite Montreux Acts – Sting, Janet Jackson, Slash, Joan Baez, George Ezra, Tom Jones, and Rita Ora.
During her radio show, Twain was the de facto public relations department for the festival.
“Every year, when I’m not on tour, I go to Montreux Jazz Festival,” Twain said. “I spend a major amount of time in the audience, watching performances and hanging out afterwards, jamming and spending a lot of late nights, hanging out, getting to know each other.”
No wonder Twain calls it home.
