Tanya Tucker combined her love for both music and horses when she named her filly horse, Miss Loretta Lynn.

Tanya Tucker soared to fame at the age of 13 in 1972 with her hit song, “Delta Dawn.” Since then she’s won two Grammy Awards, two Country Music Association Awards, and has released 15 number one singles. But there’s more to the country music star’s life than just music. She’s also an avid animal lover, especially horses. During a Facebook video in 2018, Tucker opened up about her love for the animal. She said that it all started when she was just a little girl.

“I love a horse better than anybody,” said Tucker. “I’ve had horses since I was five years old and I’ve been in love ever since.”

Most recently, Tanya Tucker combined her love for music and horses by naming her new after her country music hero, Loretta Lynn. During an interview in 2018, Tucker talked about her new horse and how she asked Loretta Lynn for permission to use her name.

“I’ve got a new filly, gonna be a cutting horse – out of a really big stud called Smooth as a Cat. And I named her Miss Loretta Lynn. So, I had to get permission to use her name for the American Quarter Horse Association. They don’t allow you to do that unless you get permission. So, I went out to her house and she signed that paper twice, she loved it! And I sent her pictures of Loretta and I’m going to get a great trainer…and we’ll see, it’s nice if I get to have a horse named Miss Loretta Lynn just make the finals. But hey, let’s go all the way, as long as we’re thinking, let’s go all the way and win the thing!”

The country music legend has a whole new generation of fans after releasing her 2019 album, While I’m Livin.’ Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings produced the album, and now Tanya Tucker is teaming up with Carlile again for a new record. During a recent interview, Tanya Tucker shared her plans for the new album.

“We’re just about ready to get started on a new album,” said Tucker. “[Carlile] sent me maybe a verse and chorus, and it blew me away. So we’re on the right track.”

Tanya Tucker said that she’s been working with Carlile on some songs for the album and that Shooter Jennings will be involved again as well. Tucker added that she’s looking forward to finding more fans through the record.

“All I want, all I’ve ever wanted, was just an opportunity to be heard,” said Tucker. “Not to close me off and not to categorize me — just to let everybody hear me, man. They don’t have to like me, but they might, you know? I’m greedy. I just want an opportunity to gather up some more fans. The more I have, the better I like it.”
