Thanksgiving is hardly over, but Dan + Shay are already getting into the Christmas spirit.
On Friday, the country duet posted a holiday-themed clip of the two harmonizing while captioning the clip with “it’s Friday, but make it Christmas.”
In the clip, both of them are wearing their appropriate Christmas sweaters. Dan + Shay sit in front of a decorated home with wrapped presents surrounding them. A shot reminiscent of their new music video, “Take Me Home for Christmas.” Dan plays the tune on a keyboard while Shay displays his signature vocals.
Fans were quick to jump in with their approval of the duet. One user pointed out that Christmas does fall on a Friday this year.
Responding with, “Christmas is on a Friday this year! Guess that means we’ll have to alternate between listening to both versions that day.”
The country duo got fans excited when they released a holiday-inspired music video for their song, “Take Me Home for Christmas,” earlier in November. The music video features the duo’s families, even including Dan Smyer’s dogs. The video looks like it came right out of a Lifetime movie.
While the group has never released a full Christmas album, they could be dropping subtle hints with the tweet and new Christmas music videos. “Take Me Home For Christmas” is Dan + Shay’s second-holiday track. In 2019, they also released a version of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”
Dan + Shay to Perform on CMA Christmas Special
Dan + Shay will perform with other artists on the CMA Country Christmas television special for the holidays. The 11th annual Christmas special will air on Nov. 30.
In an interview with Taste of Country, Executive Producer Robert Deaton explains that the show will have a “throwback feel.”
“The idea for this year’s show was to do a throwback of the great Christmas specials of the 1960s and 1970s. Andy Williams, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra all had classic Christmas specials where the viewer was invited into the homes of the host to celebrate the holiday like a best friend coming to visit.”
He added, “That was what we wanted to create for this year’s show. Instead of a big flashy production, we took a page from those iconic specials to say, ‘Come relax, and let’s celebrate the holidays together.'”
