Florida-Georgia Line went with fun and whimsy Monday night as the duo premiered their new Christmas song.
Make that a drinking holiday song. It’s called “Lit This Year.” The song literally was about Christmas spirit in a cup. There even was a reference to Old Camp, the duo’s official whiskey.
As the song goes, a family gathers to celebrate Christmas and decorate the tree. It sounds like traditional family stuff. But everybody is taking a sip or two of an adult beverage. So it’s a big party.
Santa even is invited to stay and drink.
But it better be St Nick’s “last stop because he won’t be good to drive.”
As Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly sang it, “that Christmas tree ain’t the only thing getting lit this year.” It was all part of the annual “CMA Country Christmas” special on ABC.
The official CMA Country Music account tweeted: “That fridge is full of CHEER. And we’re singing along with Florida-Georgia line as they perform their original holiday tune “Lit This Year.”
How Will Florida-Georgia Line Celebrate The Holiday?
In an interview before the show started, Hubbard explained that the duo never had released a Christmas song.
So why not this year?
“It just turned out amazing,” Hubbard said. “So much fun, really feels like a Florida-Georgia Line song.
“It’s a good time,” he said. “It makes us feel good. We can’t wait for the world to hear it.”
Hubbard and his family are preparing to celebrate Christmas with a new baby and a one-year-old.
He said they’ll probably find a snowy getaway to spend the holidays.
“Somewhere where it snows a lot,” he said. “The mountains. We want to get away and just have a good ol time.
The song dropped Oct. 29. Check it out:
