Lisa Banes, known for her work in “Nashville” and “Gone Girl,” is in critical condition after being involved in a hit-and-run accident.
Banes suffered her injuries on Friday night in New York City. NYPD officers responded to an accident, according to an article in Variety. On further investigation, it appears that Lisa Banes was attempting to cross Amsterdam Avenue when a motor scooter hit her and fled.
Police also said Banes had the right of way in the crosswalk.
Lisa Banes Suffers Traumatic Brain Injury, Family, Friends Say
She remains in critical condition late Saturday at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital with a traumatic brain injury, her family and friends said.
“Lisa is in critical condition and we’ll know more in the next few days,” her wife, Kathryn Kranhold, told The New York Post.
No further information is available at this time about Banes’ health. Additionally, no arrests have been made. Police said Saturday it was unclear what kind of vehicle hit Lisa Banes.
“No one knows for sure,” an NYPD spokesman told The New York Post. “Some witnesses said it was a scooter. Some said it was a motorcycle with no plate.”

Banes appeared in four episodes of “Nashville” in 2018 as a ranch director. She appeared in “Gone Girl” as Marybeth Elliot in the 2014 film. Her television resume’ spans nearly four decades, dating back to “Spencer” For Hire” in 1985.
Other TV appearances for Lisa Banes include “L.A. Law,” “Roseanne,” “NYPD Blue,” “Boston Legal, “Law and Order: SVU,” “The King of Queens,” and “Desperate Housewives.”
Banes, a native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, studied acting at Julliard in New York City. She’s also been on Broadway, appearing in Neil Simon’s play “Rumors” with Christine Baranski in 1988. In addition, in 1981, Lisa Banes won a Theatre World Award for “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award in “Isn’t It Romantic?” in 1984.
She currently lives in Los Angeles. She is in New York for a visit with family and friends, The Post reports.
