Count former NCIS star Jennifer Esposito as one of the many women who protested Bill Cosby’s release from prison.
Like many other women, Esposito used social media to voice her displeasure. She shared a cover of the New Yorker on her Instagram page. For those not familiar with the cover, it featured the dozens of women who said Bill Cosby assaulted them.
The former NCIS star captioned the photo:
“I stand with 60 women who came forward about their abuser – Cosby.
“And he walks.
“The system is broken. Women deserve better. When is ENOUGH!?
“There are SO many abusers out there. So many. And SO many who KNOW and DO NOTHING- you are JUST as guilty.
Disgrace”
Esposito Joined Gibbs NCIS Team for a Season
Jennifer Esposito became a part of NCIS Season 14. She played Alexandra “Alex” Quinn, who left her job in field work to teach at the Law Enforcement Training Center. The NCIS gang called her Alex. Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) asked her to join his team.
When she left NCIS, Esposito told Deadline: “It was a great experience. I could not have asked for a better opportunity than to work with the NCIS cast and producers.”
Esposito also starred on Blue Bloods, which like NCIS, is a powerhouse drama on CBS.
Many Women Objected to Cosby’s Release
Esposito took exception to the release of comedian Bill Cosby, who was in year two of a three-to-10 year prison sentence for sexual assault. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned Cosby’s conviction in 2018.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that a “non-prosecution agreement” was violated. So, the court ordered Cosby to be released from a prison outside Philadelphia.
Cosby posted a statement on Twitter. He wrote: “I have never changed my stance nor my story. I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rules of law.”
Esposito, the former NCIS cast member, wasn’t the only famous woman who protested. She was one of many. And others voiced their displeasure in her Instagram comments.
A follower named Azarilaw wrote on Esposito’s page: “The system is broken because he should have never been prosecuted with evidence from a deposition testimony when he was given immunity to safely testify and give up his 5th amendment right…in the first place.
“So…it sucks for the accusers. It’s a gut punch. But the ruling is just because there are rules we play by in court and upholding everyone’s constitutional rights is at the top of the list of rules.”
Deboraglouise11 wrote to the former NCIS star: “I am left without words. As an incest survivor my heart is broken. #metoo.”
