Last night, Phil Robertson took to Instagram to address his fans who want him to run for office. In the post, Robertson gave an open ended answer before plugging his latest book, “Jesus Politics: How to Win Back the Soul of America.” The ardently conservative reality TV personality has a history of making political statements as well as endorsing conservative candidates.

Phil Robertson and Politics

Phil Robertson has been very candid about his opinions on many hot-button topics over the years. However, the controversy surrounding those comments helped to bolster his popularity among Christian conservatives. This has led to many of his supporters wondering when Robertson will run for office.

The most recent push from Duck Dynasty fans for Phil Robertson to run for president came from a recent social media post. In the post, which featured a humorous Thanksgiving-themed take on the “Come and Take It” flag, Robertson spoke out against holiday restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aside from his social media posts and controversial statements on homosexuality and atheism, Robertson has endorsed several political candidates. In the run up to the 2016 presidential election, Phil Robertson endorsed Ted Cruz until he dropped out of the race. Robertson then shifted his endorsement to Donald Trump.

The presidential race was not his first foray into politics, In 2013 he produced a television commercial endorsing Vance McAllister. The candidate, an underdog from Robertson’s home district, went on to to win the special election. Many attributed the victory to Robertson’s endorsement.

Will Robertson Run for Office?

In his latest Instagram post, Robertson addressed those who want him as president. He tells them that he isn’t running for office but isn’t running from anything. It seems that Robertson has not ruled out a future shot at the Oval Office. He closed the post with a reminder that his book “Jesus Politics: How to Win Back the Soul of America” is available at several booksellers and local libraries.
