Priscilla Presley was and is a lot more than just Elvis Presley’s wife.
Priscilla’s stepfather was an Air Force officer stationed in West Germany. At the time, Elvis was serving in the U.S Armed Forces. She was also 14 and he was 24.
The two met, had eight years of “courtship,” before eventually getting married in 1967. The two eventually got divorced in 1973 and it was amicable. In a 2016 interview with ET Online, she shared the reason for the divorce.
“I did not divorce him because I didn’t love him. He was the love of my life, but I had to find out about the world,” she said.
After Elvis passed away in 1977, she was devastated. However, she had started learning how to act toward the end of their marriage. A little after his death, she began her career in TV and movies.
Priscilla Presley in ‘Dallas’
After Elvis’ death, Priscilla started to pursue her own passions. According to IMDb, her most successful was as Jenna Wade in “Dallas” in 1978. The show was a prime time soap opera on CBS that ran from 1978 to 1991.
“Dallas” followed a wealthy Texas family, the Ewings, who owned Ewing Oil and cattle-ranching land. The show first focused on the marriage between Bobby Ewing and Pamela Barnes who had a “Romeo and Juliet” type romance since they came from opposing families.
Eventually, the main focus of the show became J.R. Ewing and all his schemes and dirty business. The show won four Emmy Awards and is one of the longest-lasting hour-long dramas in TV history.
On the show, Priscilla Presley plays Jenna Wade, Bobby’s girlfriend in season eight of the show. She also has a child with him, Lucas, and eventually becomes his second wife.
Presley in ‘Naked Gun’
Priscilla Presley also was in the movie “Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad.”
There were several “Naked Gun” movies made from 1988 to 1994. They are crime comedy movies. The first film was about a detective who is trying to uncover a plan to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II. The suspect is a rich businessman who uses a hypnotic device that can turn others into murderers.
In the movie, Presley plays Jane Spencer. She is the assistant to the businessman but ends up falling in love with the detective working on the case.
She goes on to portray Jane in both “Naked Gun: The Smell of Fear” and “Naked Gun: The Final Insult.” She was also in smaller roles in “Love Is Forever,” “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane,” and “Hayley Wagner, Star.”
Liam Neeson has allegedly talked to Seth MacFarlane about creating a reboot of the movie. However, nothing is official or in the works.
Other Career Accomplishments
Besides acting, Presley has achieved a lot in her life so far.
In 1985 she wrote the memoir “Elvis and Me” which was a bestseller. It was also made into a TV movie.
She is also a successful businesswoman. Priscilla Presley is the chairwoman and president of Elvis Presley Enterprises. She has helped make Graceland Mansion into a popular tourist destination. It is now a multimillion-dollar attraction. Recently, there was a guest house hotel added next to the Mansion for people to stay in.
She also started a fragrance line, clothing line, and skin-care product collection in the 1990s.
