Ryan Seacrest has been conspicuously absent from his post on “Live With Kelly and Ryan” this week. Yesterday, he shared a photo with his Instagram followers that left them wondering what he is currently working on. The photo shows Seacrest apparently taking a break on set. He is relaxing and scrolling on his phone. The caption of the photo reads, “Working hard or hardly working?”
Anyone familiar with Ryan Seacrest knows that there’s a good chance he’s working hard. He’s one of the busiest people in the business right now.
Ryan Seacrest Is Definitely Working Hard
Ryan Seacrest has several irons in the fire right now. He has hosted “American Idol” since its first season in 2002. Since the show’s second season, he has hosted the show solo. Seacrest has co-hosted the Emmy-winning morning show with Kelly Ripa, since 2017. He also hosts a morning radio show called “On Air With Ryan Seacrest.” Since Dick Clark’s death, he took over hosting duties of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” That event, which will feature performances by Jimmie Allen, Cyndi Lauper, and Jennifer Lopez, is just over two weeks away. “American Idol” is currently filming its 18th season.
Even if Ryan Seacrest was hardly working in the photo, it’s cleat that it was a well-deserved break.
Seacrest’s History of Hosting
If you’ve ever wondered why Seacrest is such a great host, the answer is pretty simple: he has plenty of practice. In fact, he has almost thirty years of hosting under his belt. From reality shows and radio to ringing in the new year, Ryan Seacrest has a long history of hosting.
In his first television role, he hosted the first season of “Radical Outdoor Challenge” on ESPN. That was in 1993. Around the same, he hosted three other children’s competition shows including a spinoff of “American Gladiator”. He would continue hosting various reality and competition shows until 2004.
After just over a decade of hosting, Ryan Seacrest was introduced to a wider audience when he accepted the role of co-host on “American Idol.” For the first season, he shared duties with comedian Brian Dunkleman. Since the show’s second season, Seacrest has handled hosting duties solo.
Ryan Seacrest also has a history of filling the shoes of legendary hosts. He took over New Year’s Rockin’ Eve when Dick Clark died+ Seacrest also took over hosting duties of “American Top 40” from legendary radio personality and voice talent Casey Kasem.
Whatever he’s currently working on, Ryan Seacrest has earned a few minutes of “hardly working.”
