Maureen McCormick of “The Brady Bunch” and Michael Jackson of The Jackson Five dated as teenagers.
Actress Maureen McCormick has lived quite a life. She landed one of the biggest roles in television history, Marcia Brady on “The Brady Bunch.” And was skyrocketed to fame at a young age. She took a break from acting after the show ended. But she was back in show business in the 90s when she made her Broadway debut as Betty Rizzo in a production of “Grease.” Around the same time, she also released her debut studio album called “When You Get a Little Lonely.”
Since then she’s made appearances on two reality shows. In 2015 she starred on the reality show, “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” And in 2016 she competed in “Dancing With the Stars.”
But it was during her time with “I’m a Celebrity…” that she dropped some juicy gossip. While chatting with her co-stars during an episode of the show, McCormick casually let it slip that she dated Michael Jackson as a teenager.
“Do you guys like Michael Jackson?” Maureen McCormick asked her co-stars. Of course, everyone said “Yes.”
“We used to go roller skating in Woodland Hills [California], I used to go over to their house all the time,” said McCormick. “We held hands and kissed on the cheeks, never on the lips. It was so cute, he loved our show – they all did though. We used to go over and hang out and watch them rehearse.”
McCormick added that she thought the basis of their relationship was mutual admiration.
“We would talk a lot and dream a lot and just, I think we admired each other and, yeah,” said McCormick.
Who Stole Maureen McCormick’s Heart?
Needless to say, Maureen McCormick’s romance with Michael Jackson didn’t last. However, she did meet a man who stole her heart for good. His name is Michael Cummings and the two have been married since 1985. McCormick talked about meeting Cummings in her autobiography, “Here’s the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice.” She said that she saw him while attending a concert and was immediately drawn to him.
“I turned around and saw this guy behind me,” said McCormick in her book. “I’d never seen him before. He had dark hair, a great build, and chiseled features. I looked straight into his eyes and thought, ‘This is the man I’m going to marry.'”
McCormick added that the couple’s faith is part of how they two have happily stayed together.
“I know there’s one reason that Michael and I managed to stay together through all the heavy-duty ups and downs: our faith,” said Maureen McCormick. “The two of us had faith that our love, despite all of our problems, was real, strong, durable, and worth sticking around for. Our faith made us believe our love was real.”
