At one point, Suzanne Somers found herself on the popular “Three’s Company.” Then she stood up for herself and was off the show.
Somers sought out a new contract with ABC because she wanted to earn the same amount per episode as star John Ritter. The fight turned bitter and, ultimately, she was fired after five seasons.
It was so bad for Somers that she simply turned her back on all of her “Three’s Company” costars.
“Oh, it was so sad,” Somers said in a 2020 interview with ET Online. “It was so sad. It was like being shunned from your family and whatever those producers said to them when they went back to the rehearsal hall, they painted me as greedy.”
Somers said “Three’s Company” show producers made it look like she was trying to ruin the hit show.

What happened? Somers said the cast and crew shunned her.
“So, I never talked to anybody on that show ever again,” she said. “Ever again.”
But this isn’t totally true. Somers and Ritter talked before Ritter’s untimely death in 2003. They worked out whatever issues were between them.
In 2012, DeWitt and Somers appeared together for a television interview. It was the first time in more than 30 years that they’d chatted.
While Somers said she never talked to anyone on “Three’s Company” ever again, there are at least two exceptions.
Ratings Soared Through The Roof For ABC Sitcom
There’s little doubt that Chrissy Snow was a popular character on the ABC sitcom.
The ratings took off in the show’s second season, finishing No. 3 in the Nielsen ratings. The third and fourth seasons saw “Three’s Company” finish at the No. 2 spot.
Seasons 5-7 saw the show maintain its Top 10 status, but it slipped precipitously in its final season to No. 33.
Was Somers the lone reason “Three’s Company” finished well in the ratings? No, yet she did play a part in it.
After the show, Somers went on to sell millions of “Thighmasters” on Home Shopping Network. She’s written 20-plus books and has maintained an active, healthy lifestyle for a 74-year-old star.
