Yellowstone fans are eager for season five after all the cliffhangers left from the season four finale. Some wonder if we will see the return of Jimmy Hurdstrom after his many farewells in the fourth run’s finale. Actor Jefferson White who plays Jimmy Hurdstrom hopes he’ll be back before long.
It’s no secret Jimmy Hurdstrom’s (Jefferson White) journey throughout the show has been the most transformative over Yellowstone‘s four seasons on the Paramount Network. From drug dealing to a newbie cowboy, Jimmy’s success is in no small part due to John Dutton (Kevin Costner). Dutton shipped Jimmy off to work at the 6666 Ranch in Texas in season four. Now, with season five looming on the horizon, will the new Jimmy stay in Texas with his now-fiancée Emily (Kathryn Kelly) or will he return to Yellowstone Ranch?
Jimmy’s orders to report to 6666 was a form of punishment for him defying John Dutton’s orders in season three. Of course, not everyone was happy about Jimmy’s return to the bunkhouse at Yellowstone with his fiancée in tow. Most notably his ex Mia (Eden Brolin).
Once Jimmy introduced Emily to the cowboys at the bunkhouse, ex-girlfriend Mia responded with a straight punch to Jimmy’s face. As a result, Emily and Mia end up in an all-out brawl.
Jimmy Opens Up About His Many Relationships on Yellowstone
On Paramount’s Behind the Story, White opens up about his relationship troubles and his thoughts on how much Jimmy has grown throughout the series.
“Seeing her and Emily fighting, it’s the last thing that Jimmy wants, so he’s in an incredibly difficult position there and it sort of comes to a very uncomfortable head in that conversation with Mia,” said White in response to Jimmy and Mia’s emotional confrontation.
“To see her in pain I think is such a difficult thing for Jimmy and to know that he’s the sort of cause of that pain.”
Will Jimmy Return to Yellowstone?
On another note, Jimmy faces a huge decision on whether to stay at the Yellowstone or return to Texas.
John Dutton says to Jimmy, “Texas was good for you. The only person you owe is yourself, Jim. You don’t owe me a thing.”
And just like that, Jimmy begins to realize his decisions are less about approval from others and more about the approval from himself.
“I think he also on some level knows that it’s not about John Dutton’s approval anymore. It’s about whether he approves of himself,” said White. “If he feels like he’s grown up, about if he feels like he’s sort of matured into the man he wants to be.”
So, have we seen the last of Jimmy? According to comments from both White and Rip Wheeler (Cole House), Jimmy may not be gone from the ranch for long.
“As soon as you’re branded, this is your home,” Hauser points out. “You can go off and do what you wanna do but this will always be your home.”
“It’s an overwhelming feeling to feel like Jimmy might be leaving the Yellowstone for good,” White teased. “But only time will tell, and only one guy can make that decision… Taylor Sheridan.”
