“Yellowstone” star Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton on the show, is sharing his take on “Yellowstone”’s surge in popularity. That’s due partly to its availability on the streaming platform Peacock.
“I’m happy to hear we are finally hitting a streaming service,” Grimes told CinemaBlend in October. “I do feel that there are groups of people who’ve missed out on watching our show because of the many ways people get their media these days.”
“Hopefully those audiences can become part of the family now,” he added.
The show did relatively well its first two seasons. But its ratings shot up in its third season, according to the Express. Furthermore, over 5.2 million viewers watched the show’s Season 3 finale.
“I think a lot of the strength of the show is Taylor Sheridan’s writing, the world that he has created,” Grimes told Monsters & Critics this month. “I’ve been a big fan of his for a long time. And there’s just something that hits really close to home.”
“Even though a lot of his stuff can be macho or western or whatever, I think it appeals to everyone because it’s very human,” he added. “That’s why I was drawn to it. I just fell in love with the characters first.”
Paramount released the DVD and Blu-Ray editions of Season 3 earlier this month. And with the show also available on Peacock, fans have little excuse to miss out on the adventures of the Dutton clan.
Season 4 will come out in 2021. As it matures, the show is increasingly appealing to a broader audience.
“I think a lot of people see a billboard for it, and they see cowboy hats and guns, and they think, ‘Well, maybe that’s not for me,’” Grimes said. “But I think there really is something for everyone.”
